I apologize for my late post, I had a very stressful week with midterms and papers and whatnot. To make up for the lateness I bring you a story from one of my nights at The Red Ring, probably the first of many.
On Thursday night I was cocktail waitressing at the Red Ring, meaning that I was in charge of anyone in the bar area who wasn’t sitting at the bar. Thursday night was a Penguins game and Pirates game so the restaurant was pretty packed. I was basically running around for about three and a half hours non-stop. Taking orders, bringing drinks, weaving in and out of crowds of people, just mainly dealing with chaos. I had this one particular customer who made it his mission to get to know me, which was a little strange. 6:
He asked my name, which wasn’t too strange, and then proceeded to shake my hand and tell me his name. For the rest of the night he asked about school and told me random facts about himself as well. It was probably the first time that this had ever happened to me and I wasn’t really sure what to make of it.
After that strange encounter I was running around until about 6:45 when the place cleared out, which tends to happen when there is a pens game since we’re so close to the arena. All in all, it was a successful night for me and the rest of the staff at the Red Rings and how fast the time went by reminded me how much I do enjoy being a waitress. My question to you all is was it strange that this random guy wanted to know and tell so much? Would you ever attempt to get to know someone who was waiting on you that much? Maybe it’s a Pittsburgh thing, since we tend to be a little less friendly in Philadelphia. Let me know what you think and feel free to share your own experiences with me! And feel free to come visit me when I’m working! The Red Ring is a fun place to go for dinner or lunch and we take Flex!
