If you come to Duquesne you will be surrounded by sports team. Pittsburgh is a great sports city even if you’re not a Penguins, Steelers, or Pirates fan. These are links to all the local professional sports team you have the chance to see. The atmosphere is electrifying when it comes to sports especially during the playoffs. I have not experienced a Pirates playoff run yet, but it’s coming soon I hope. The Pittsburgh team to watch now is the Penguins who are a Stanley Cup favorite with captain Sidney Crosby returning to the lineup. This is important because their home arena is only one block from Duquesne’s campus. This is the Consol Energy Center, which is home not only to the Penguins, but entertainment all year around. This beautiful arena does not only hold hockey games, but many other large concerts and events. The arena has hosted Lady Gaga, Paul McCartney, Bon Jovi, Elton John, Brittany Spears, and many other great performers. The link provided will give you a schedule for all the other great performances coming to the Arena. This great source of entertainment is right at the fingertips of Duquesne University. You can easily walk down with your friends to see the great shows. The best show of all is a Pittsburgh Penguins game in my opinion, which happens more frequently. The prices range for every event, but the Penguins do their best at giving college students the chance to experience a Penguins game. They created an event called student rush where students can line up early for the game to receive cheaper tickets for students. This usually involves prize giveaways while in line. You can learn more on event by click on the penguins link above. Duquesne is fortunate to have a small school feel, but surrounded by entertainment all year around. Hope everyone is enjoying the warm weather and GO PENS!
